Sadala

A Planet at the End of War

A Fragile Peace Among Warriors

10’000 Years before Age 0, Sadala, worn and weary from centuries of large-scale conflict, finds itself now in a tenuous peace. The native Saiyans - known for their strict social hierarchies that have been the cause of seemingly endless amounts of drama, intrigue, and violence - had finally toppled the last Tyrant of their planet only 10 years prior. The bated breathes of the Saiyans, expecting a new Tyrant to rise from the ensuing power vacuum, are just now being exhaled. So far, no one has risen to take the throne, and no group can get a foothold against the now battle-hardened Liberation Army. There are even some Warriors hanging up their armor and retiring, considering all threats to have passed, though most have gone on to become Peacekeepers, vigilantly watching for any upstarts who would attempt to lord over a unified Saiyan race once again.

Diplomats, Scholars, and Opportunists

As a result of the ending wars, there are many diplomatic, mercantile, and scholarly delegations from far-off corners of the Galaxy that are attempting to set up formal relations with Sadala. The Tuffles, a race who had been in close contact with the Saiyans over many millennia, with varying degrees of hostilities and peace, were eager to update the information they had on the newly re-opened planet. A colonization mission - more of a research outpost - had set out not long after hearing the news of the previous Tyrant’s defeat, with many Tuffles jumping at the opportunity to leave their own home world of Plant, often described as a “corporate technocracy”, for a chance at a better life.

Profit in the Ashes

Not all new arrivals are as idealistic, however. The Changelings, always shrewd, see Sadala as a golden opportunity for wealth. It is a planet rich in natural resources, manpower, and sits in a highly valuable, and now viable, trade route. Although not violent by nature, they are known to be cutthroat when it comes to matters of money, and often display a superiority complex, deeming other races, and especially their fellow Changelings, as insignificant at best.

The Wildcards

Alongside, there are many scattered Androids, usually serving as mercenaries, laborers, bodyguards, farmers, entertainers, and a wide variety of other professions that are usually in servitude to the other races, although there are exceptions. “Android” is a more generalized term that could range from a slightly augmented mechanized organic all the way to a fully robotic being. There is even a fully biological race sometimes referred to as “Androids” somewhere in the galaxy, due to their close similarities and metallic features, although this is more of a misnomer, albeit one that is sometimes taken advantage of by members of either group as the situation calls for it. To put it plainly, the Androids are more of a general wildcard group, aligning with whoever pays them, captures them, befriends them, or finds themselves an enemy of their enemy.

Earth

A Cradle of Culture

The Philosophers and Tycoons

Earth, on the other hand, is a planet much on the opposite end of the spectrum. Lying at the other end of the Galactic quadrant, Earth is an ancient planet rich in culture, history, and diversity. Although never developing much of a space-faring civilization itself, it has been visited often by many species throughout the Galaxy, particularly those looking for a chance at experiencing an idyllic lifestyle. The native race, Humans, are regarded as a philosophical and prestigious race, with a code of ethics and honor that other civilizations sometimes even attempt to emulate. Although this may not necessarily be a true assessment in every case, the Humans enjoy the view that others have of them, and often go to great lengths to protect their image.

Spiritual Wanderers of the Galaxy

Captured by this allure, a colony of Namekians, from the planet Namek, have taken residence on the planet. Most of these are Namekians that are looking for a more fast-paced environment than can be found on their peaceful, though boring home, though some are on Earth looking for spiritual enlightenment, and others are simply dragged along by friends or family members. Regardless of motivation, the Namekians are mostly well regarded on Earth, having been there for a few centuries in some capacity, though there are some who see their presence as a nuisence.

Isolationists on a Crowded World

Makyojin — or Makyos — in particular, are a race that may or may not be native to Earth, but it is certain they have been there for at least a few Millennia. They are isolationist in nature, often preferring to keep to themselves and push out any outsiders from their camps. The attention that Earth receives is therefore a hotly debated issue to many Makyojin. In recent years, extremist attacks on hotspots of tourism, immigration, and governments perpetrated by the Makyojin have been commonplace, leading to a sharp decline in visiting races to Earth. Still, this is mostly seen as a temporary issue by most Earthlings, and many are confident that a return to normalcy is only around the corner.

Afterlife

Custodians of Order and Chaos

Heaven’s Uneasy Vigil

In the midst of all of this, the Otherworld races — the Kaio and Oni — keep a watchful eye. They had taken a very hands-off approach to Sadala, which they had since come to regret after the many centuries of warfare, and they are desperate to prevent another planet from burning itself to the ground again, even if a civilization did eventually rise from the ashes. They are therefore taking a keen interest in Earth’s affairs, particularly in response to the Makyojin, although they have not seen any reason to intervene just yet.

The Worshipped and Waiting

The Demons, however, are very excited about Earth’s prospects. They have been communicating with the Makyojin for centuries at this point, and are often the targets of their worship. The motivations of Demons are often hard to pin down, so nobody truly knows what the situation is, or why they have Earth on their radar, but it seems like great effort is being expended — and effort completely contradictory to the normally lazy and laid-back nature of most Demons.
