Factions

Amorus Company

Pleetsky sympathizers, they view his actions as not only justified but morally correct and praise him as a sort of pseudo religious figure, they seek to explore the depths from whermst the dreaded serpent rested its head and slay it along with those whom their leader deem heretics.

“Valeria was a great kingdom, Pleetsky was a wise god surrounded by ingrates.”

Sanguine Apostates

A large group explorers who seek to safely dispose of the last remnants of Irithine, Preventing another so-called ‘Golden age’ is their top priority as they viewed the golden age as the beginning of the end and what started the great Tragedy, people cannot be trusted with great power. Because of these sentiments they are marked as Heretics by Amorus company and find themselves at odds with them frequently.

“To try and restore a dead era is as futile and idiotic as watering a long dead flower.”

Enmity

Offspring of the original drowned beasts that arrived with Apophis, the biology of the creatures changed overtime as they quickly evolved by consuming humanoid creatures and stole some of their features Intelligence and traits, Amorus company higher-ups nicknamed these creatures ‘Enmities’ Due to their natural aggressiveness to all surface life.

“Hate.”

Valeria

Year: 550

Golden Age

Long ago there was a kingdom on the brink of collapse just barely able to hold onto what little resources they had, the people were starving and the population steadily declined.

The leader of their nation was a man whose name has long since been forgotten to time and even less about his appearance and personality were known.

In a desperate attempt to aid his dying kingdom he plotted to explore the forbidden ruins within the depths of a nearby ocean that sat at the edge of their border.

The Valerian king was warned of the dangers that lurked there, man-eating beast ready and waiting to tear any who dared enter limb from limb, despite these warnings he descended

the depths and led an expedition with three hundred of his most loyal soldiers, in the end he was the only one to return from the ruins with their life.

Their sacrifices lead to the discovery of a strange Ore, ‘Irithine’ was a Quartz like Crystal, It constantly emitted a frequency that was pleasing to the ears of living creatures and repelled Evil Spirits, Whenever the Ore was touched or broken the frequency would intensify relieving stress and calming the very soul.

due to its mystical properties it was praised as “The stone of gods” and a marvel to Alchemist and chemist alike.

In some rare cases the Ore was said to have the ability to bring the dead back to life, extend ones life span and give those who held it or wielded weapons forged from it incredible boost’s in physicality and mystic knowledge, though this privilege was usually only given to nobles and members of their family.

By this point they had become so powerful neighboring nations and rivals were aligning themselves with Valeria becoming a sovereign nation that ruled over most of the world, though some small countries and villages refused to join them as they wanted to hold onto their own culture.

Pleetsky’s Greed

Pleetsky

Year: 590

The former king’s third and youngest son Pleetsky was an acolyte, he frequently studied Religious beliefs, Irithine by this time had already begun rooting itself deep within the nation’s culture and daily life, the calming sound emitted from the Ore was used for simple tasks such as calming infants, soothing the ailments of the sick, and extending the life-span of nobles.

At this point in time the Material was in such an abundance that it became extremely common in most nobles homes and even some of the more financially stable citizens of Valeria had it in their homes, the frequency echoed throughout the country constantly many foreigners and travelers would come to work within the borders just to experience the divine sound.

Pleetsky saw how his beloved country prospered, his soul became engulfed in gluttony “Aye, these days be fair, yet fairer still they could become.” were words he would frequently say to his servants and father, Pleetsky resented those who traveled to his home to seek out the calming effects of Irithine, he loathed how those who once wouldn’t reach out a hand to repair his once crumbling home were now happily indulging themselves in the bounty his people risk their lives to procure.

—----------------------------------------------

Excavator

Soon Pleetsky would inherit his fathers throne after the mysterious and tragic disappearances of his siblings he was the last of the royal family, giving him more power and the ability to implement his will upon his nation.

With this newfound authority he commanded the creation of a construct called ‘The Excavator’, The excavator was a mega structure used to procure a large amount of Irithine without needing to continuously to sink into the depths and risk the lives of valerian soldiers/citizens, many Khan as they were the main force behind collecting Irithine and the most resistant to it lost their lives during the early development of the drill due to the fact that it needed to be constructed within the depths.

Though this would cause Irithine to become more abundant, It did not mean that commoners could procure it more easily, Pleetsky began to horde the resource and hike up the price, citizens of foreign nations would have to pay twenty times what a citizens of Valeria would, the price for a single gram of Irithine was so inflated that selling it could purchase a large mansion and feed a family of six for 2 months, the pricing steadily increased.

Waste management for the excavators power supply was not thought out, more often than not waste would be dumped into small neighboring villages, forests and sometimes out of spite Pleetsky would dump the waste into Foreign nations territory and pay off those in charge of those foreign nations to stay silent, not only poisoning the land outside of his home to the point of near-inhospitality but also poisoning the people who lived there.

Pleetsky

Year: 620

After years of drilling and waste dumping the lands surrounding Valeria began to grow barren, families migrated into their lands out of necessity Irithine was no longer a luxury but something people outside of Valeria needed in-order to ensure their survival.

A dangerous miasma that could only be found in the depths began to mix with the waste that the drill produced, Irithine was the only known way to expunge the toxin from a person’s system

Those who would succumb to the sickness would find that their very being would rot away leaving them as mindless husks of their former selves often mutating into horrible monsters, this sickness was aptly named ‘Soul Rot’.

Overcome with greed Pleetsky refused to offer help to those in need despite the fact that it was his gluttonous nature that led to the decline of the lands surrounding Valeria.

The people were outraged, riots and rebellions rapidly formed, however thanks to the near endless supply of Irithine Pleetsky was able to continuously resurrect fallen soldiers and empower them, what could simple peasants ever hope to accomplish against well-trained Immortal soldiers, still many of the soldiers still had hearts they saw what their people were going through and chose to defect, becoming traitors to their nation in favor of helping those less fortunate.

Many months passed and the rebellion had grown drastically in influence, with the help of former knights and generals they were able to storm the capital of valeria and pose a real threat to Pleetsky.

Unfortunately for those present he was as spiteful as he was greedy, at the height of the skirmish just before the rebellion approached the castle, he launched an explosive attack on his kingdoms own Irithine reserves, destroying the very resource that his people sacrificed their lives for, that his father nearly died for, and what saved his beloved nation.

If he couldn’t have it, no one could.

Great Drowning

Apophis’s Wake

Year: 620

As the Irithine was destroyed the familiar pleasant sound emitted from the Ore, though with this much being destroyed at once it overloaded the senses of all those who lived nearby paralyzing those with untrained minds, a shockwave of energy shook the very core of the earth and something unknown to the surface began to stir, and ancient beast was disturbed by the frequency and maddened by the sound.

Out of the depths came a serpent larger than the nation that so greedily plundered the sea-bed where it slumbered, Alongside Apophis came nightmarish creatures with an immense thirst for blood, mercilessly they tore the unaffected citizens of Valeria limb from limb.

a ray of light shined from the throat of the beast before the capital was wiped out, a chilling blast of ice froze over the lands and cooled the very ozone layer, It’s claws the size of Skyscrapers flattened the lands as it moved clearing out what remained of Valeria, It’s tail sent Tsunami’s in all directions drowning anyone who attempted to escape the dreaded beast by boat.

In the end the only thing remaining was a destroyed nation and a world that could barely support the life it held, the beast was satisfied and sunk into the deepest parts of the depths.

Coryza

Amorus

Rise of Amorus

Year: 1020

Amorus was the son of a scholar who studied Valeria and the old world religiously, he idolized Pleetsky’s conviction to take what belonged to him and not waver in the face of opposition.

He wanted to instill the same values upon his child, frequently and randomly beating him within an inch of his life in hope that Amorus bounce back stronger.

Once he was old and strong enough, Amorus fought back, badly injuring his father and leaving him for dead.

“To not strive for more is to be meek!” Were his fathers last words.

And so Amorus strived for more, he traveled the vast lands and hunted enmities eventually he amassed a following and word of his ‘Heroics’Inspired others to stop running and stand their ground against the Enmities.

Just as his father did to him, Amorus did onto his men every crusade was practically suicide but those that returned grew exceptionally strong willed.

One day they returned with an artifact, a sentient blade that siphoned the life force of anyone who wielded it, rapidly aging them in exchange for a massive boost in strength this weapon was called ‘Zulfiqar’.

Roland

Roland Vashtir

Year: 1050 The Sanguine Apothecary.

One day while traveling the vast lands of a place that would soon be known as Coryza a group of adventurers lead by a felistorian scientist known as Roland discovered the ruins of what seemed to be an alchemist’s study, it housed ancient knowledge, artifact and texts from the old world some records dating back to before Apophis’s wake.

Among these discoveries was a statue that hummed a faint yet pleasant aura, as the group stepped closer they noticed the statue had humanoid eyes within the holes of what they assumed was an abdomen.

With the statue’s help Roland learned how to create Enmity deterrents in the form of villages, by lining their homes with dust from the coral growths along its form.

The dust made it so anyone who had progressed into the later stages of “Soul Rot” and became a husk wouldn’t be allowed to enter.

Along with this Yun shul gifted Roland with the knowledge required to forge a powerful blade known as ‘Durandal’ with this weapon he protected his new home and citizens against those who’d attempt to harm it.

Eden-kite

Year: 1080 (Starting Point Of Current Wipe)

Many years passed and Amorus’s scouts discovered the existence of a group of Heretics who renounce pleetsky and his Ideologies, he heard of their ideals and way of life and felt disgusted.

But they had an Oracle, a relic of the old world something that belonged to the Valerian King, Amorus grew envious how could these people who’ve never had to hold a sword and only ran away from enmities be bestowed with the Oracle.

And so he planned to march onto their lands himself, clear out the heretics and retrieve the Oracle.

The battle lasted for three days with Amorus and Roland both fighting on the front lines, as their legendary weapons clashed with each other it sent shockwaves rippling throughout the land and shocked both sides.

Eventually the battle came to an end with both of them severely wounded and barely standing, Amorus rapidly aged and wounded, was barely standing from the over-use of Zulfiqar.

Roland was in equally as bad shape, he was missing his arm and had lost too much blood to make it back home, it was down to the final strike they both swung at the same time ending the battle.

Both warriors fell to each-others blades and it was now up to their subordinates, despite their lower number the Sanguine Apostates managed to push Amorus Company troops back and force them off their land.

Extra Info

Heliodars

Heliodars are the evolved forms of Enmities that have consumed a sufficient amount of living humanoid creatures, Their true forms usually are seen with facial markings that resemble tribal tattoos, several wings often times on the face and back though they can be concealed at will, hair color, skin color, and eye color all vary depending on the beings consumed by Heliodars, however they are capable of mimicking the appearances of those they’ve captured perfectly but only so long as that person is alive.

(Their ability to mimic appearances isn’t known to the general public.)

Unlike Enmities, heliodars are capable of higher thinking and possess a higher than average level of intelligence, all of them are unique with their own personalities though they all share one common factor, they deeply resent, loathe and hate all life that does not have ties with the depths.

The frequency Irithine produces also has an opposite effect on them, they cannot stand the sound.
